The Capital City Xpress was founded in 2006 as a group to keep the music alive. We all love Big Band music from the tunes of the 1930's to the modern charts of today. We play everything from the oldies of Glen Miller and the Dorsey brothers as well as Stevie Wonder and Norah Jones hits.
We like to have our charts played a little up tempo from the usual and still make the ballads sound soulful. We are a group that is consistently evolving and feel like we are getting better every year. The band performs a wide variety of styles - cha cha, rumba, samba, tango, waltz - and just plain old swing for great evening of listening enjoyment and even some driving rock, once in a while. This band has got to have fun playing and we think our audiences have a great time, too.
Capital City is the new kid on the block at the Cumming Playhouse, but we believe you will like our music and soon welcome us as a part of the Playhouse family of entertainers.
So, if you are looking for something a little different for the Saturday Night of Memorial Day weekend 2012, head this way and make plans to dine before the show at Tam’s Backstage, located on the lower level of the Playhouse to make your evening complete.
